How do you outlaw abortion without outlawing abortion?
Easy. In Virginia, first Governor Bob McDonnell signs a law that says abortion clinics will be subject to the same regulations as hospitals. (
Not outpatient clinics that do things like plastic surgery or oral surgery, mind you, just abortion clinics.)
Then you pass a bunch of regulations for new hospital construction (like minimum hallway widths and specific ventilation systems), and remove the clause that exempts existing hospitals.
Voila! All 20 abortion providers in Virginia will have to make costly renovations, endangering their ability to continue operating.
The Virginia Board of Health didn’t want to do it. When they passed the regulations in June, they grandfathered in the existing clinics. But Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli threatened the Board with legal and financial consequences if they failed to remove the exemption, and for good measure, Governor McDonnell appointed a new Board member - Dr. John Seeds, vice chairman of the anti-abortion group OBGYNS for Life. Lo and behold, they got what they wanted.

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant signed into law on Monday a bill that could shut down the only abortion clinic in the state, hailing it as an important step to “ensure that the lives of the born and unborn are protected in Mississippi.”
House Bill 1390, which passed the state Senate earlier this month, requires all physicians at abortion clinics in Mississippi to be board-certified OB-GYN and to have admitting privileges at a local hospital.
Jackson Women’s Health Organization in Jackson, Miss., is the only abortion facility in the state, and its owner recently told POLITICO that two of its three physicians do not have the now-required admitting rights. Diane Derzis had predicted that once signed into law, H.B. 1390 could force her clinic to close.
…..
Planned Parenthood was quick to condemn the new law. “Make no mistake, this law is based on a political agenda, not medical necessity,” Cecile Richards, the group’s president, said in a statement. “In yet another shortsighted attempt to ban abortion in Mississippi, Governor Bryant and lawmakers are putting their ideology above the health and safety of Mississippi women. This law is bad policy and endangers women’s health.”

Here is senator Wendy Davis’ front door!
Again, no one was hurt.
Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis is an ardent supporter of Planned Parenthood, and spoke at a rally 10 days ago about her experiences relying on Planned Parenthood for her health care.
Coincidence? I THINK NOT.

THIS!
My spouse works in phlebotomy.
As part of an ice-breaker while he preps the tourniquet, tubes and needle, he casually asks why his patients are there. Obviously it doesn’t require an answer or anything, because that’d be invasive as hell, but often it helps alleviate patient tension if they start talking about something, and the elephant in the room makes for an easy jumping block. People trust medical workers.
“I’m getting an abortion,” one young woman he saw today said. Not the first, not the last.
But she went on to describe her situation. It wasn’t what she wanted; who knows how it happened—brief lapse of judgment, failure of contraception, tampering with contraception, marital rape, whatever—but the point was, she wasn’t ready. She decided to abort, even though her husband tried to convince her otherwise.
He asked for a divorce.
Now she’s in a race to get the procedure done as fast as possible, because he intends to fight for custody of the unborn child. He wants to legally force her to carry that fetus she doesn’t want to term and then take the resulting baby from her.
When my spouse told me about this, his voice shook.
Seriously, this is happening. It’s happening right now.
Who the fuck does this guy think he is trying to tell his partner what to do withher own uterus, not to mention endure pregnancy and labor against her will. Fuck.
This makes me so incredibly angry.
All of my hatred.
You have 72 hours after birth control failure or unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy. The sooner you take emergency contraception, the better it works. Plan B One-Step™ is available over the counter for consumers 17 and older.
Present this at any retail pharmacy (it can’t be used at government subsidized clinics, unfortunately) for up to two purchases of Plan B One-Step™. It’s valid for both prescription and non-prescription purchases.
Reblog so your followers can have it, too!
It’s a really good idea to buy them just to have in your medicine cabinet, if you can afford it.
Reblogging for signal boost!
